ABOUT SPRUCE UP

Through the generous support from the State of Maryland’s Department of Housing and Community Development, the Greater Baybrook Alliance’s Community Spruce-Up Grant program provides funding to groups, individuals and associations in the neighborhoods of Brooklyn, Curtis Bay, and Brooklyn Park in the amount of $5,000 to $25,000.

The goal of this grant program to provide matching resources for mid- to large-scale community improvement projects such as murals, neighborhood signage, and school greening projects in order to develop neighborhood-driven, highly visible quality of life improvements that promote strong community building.

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)

Part of the Baybrook Violence Reduction Plan (BVRP) and the Brooklyn and Curtis Bay 2-year Neighborhood Policing Plan (NPP), our CPTED work aims to invest in the areas of our community that are most impacted by violence. GBA is working to direct strategic improvements to properties that have nexus with crime and violence in these areas. Examples of interventions include murals, fencing/gates, facade improvement/repair, development incentives, and lighting/security cameras.
